As I mentioned before, this is my second time to get nominated for this award (you can read my first Versatile Bloger Award post here). It took me a while to compile these facts since I’m aware they’re not super exciting, but I hope you can learn something about me from this list!

  1. My name is a combination of my parents name. And I’m glad it is the way it is!
  2. I’m not very sporty, but I love playing badminton once in a while with my younger brother. Just a quick, casual and harmless game, you know?
  3. I have a bad habit of picking my lips. It’s just too hard to stop and I have no self control.
  4. I love books, movies and series and I just wish I could have all the times in the world to do all of them.
  5. I love song with uncommon tunes in it, whether it’s the instrument or the sound of the singer itself. Talking about Breezeblocks by Alt-J or Soap by Melanie Martinez.
  6. I’m a huge stan of Harry Styles and proud of it. He’s one of the nicest celebrity out there and he’s just being himself. I mean, aside from being an amazing singer, I’m talking about this and this. And to make it fair, I’ll also include this video where he’s being very mean, watch at your own risk and I’ll leave the judgement to you.
  7. Talking about celebrity, Jake Gyllenhaal is one of my all time favorite actor and I fell for him because of Nightcrawler (2014). Such an amazing performance!

[su_divider top=”no” style=”dashed”]

And that’s a wrap! Now, I’d like to nominate this award to these 15 lovely bloggers! Don’t worry you guys, if you’ve done this before! This award is just for fun, so don’t stress yourself over it!

How I Started As A Blogger

I started blogging when I was 14 (I think I’ve mentioned this over and over again in other posts). It was a personal blog. No niche, whatsoever. Just me, writing anything that came to my head (I still am now, though) and having fun browsing all the free themes on internet to make the blog looks pretty. The most fun part for being a blogger during this time is you don’t have to stress out about your social media presence, because there is no social media! Well, of course there is Facebook and other stuff, but to promote your blog on those platform is not quite a thing yet. However, the engagement over the blogging community during this time was still just insane. I’m sure everyone is pretty much blogwalking whenever they got a chance to do so. I learn so much from this community back then, because everyone is so welcome and generous about teaching others. I got my first gig for a sponsored post, following by bunch of other paid to post offers. Honestly, it’s the best thing that could ever happened to a 14 years old and I couldn’t be more grateful.

Anyway, I blog for couple years, up until I was about to graduate from high school. I took a long break from blogging when I started college and this break continued for about five years. I finally decided to started blogging again earlier this year, so I bought a domain and choose Blogger as my blog platform. However, I didn’t started until August (shame on me!) because I overthink about my niche. Finally, I made my decision on September. I decided to move to WordPress and went self-hosted. I still keep the same domain name, though. And here we are! I’m still a bit lost whenever people ask me what kind of blogger I am, because this blog is not a personal one but it’s pretty much all over the place. A lifestyle blog? Not sure. I don’t write much about my life except for books and movies. But for now, I guess it’s such a small, insignificant thing to label yourself and stress over a certain word, just to make yourself fit in. So what if I’m not this blogger or that blogger? The most important thing is I get to do what I love to do and meet others who loves to do the same thing, right?

Two Advice for New Bloggers

I don’t considered myself to be experienced enough for giving advice, but there are some tips that I can share to anyone who just started their blog!

  1. Stop worrying and start doing. This is pretty much what I’d say to my past self. I worried about so many things even before I was started and it postponing me from starting the actual blog. You might not figured out everything when you first started and that’s totally okay. Stop stressing out about your blog name, your blog niche, your brand, your theme, your social media presence, etc etc. No one started out perfectly and it’s fine. You’ll figure out everything along the way, trust me.
  2. Engage in the community. There are so many amazing bloggers that you can learn a lot from, even get some inspiration. But, to be able to get all of these, you gotta start giving as well. You can’t just expect to get audience and readers for your blog if you’re not an audience and reader as well in the first place. You get what you give! And isn’t it amazing to gain friends that has the same interest with you? Trust me, this whole blogging thing if so much fun when you have friends by your side, especially those who’s sincere and genuinely loves your blog.

[su_divider top=”no” style=”dashed”]

And that’s a wrap! I’d like to nominate this award to these 15 bloggers, as I’m curious about how they started as a blogger!

[su_divider top=”no” style=”dashed”]

So, these are seven things that you probably don’t know about me!

  1. I’m Indonesian. Born, raised and lived my whole life here!
  2. I have a bachelor degree in marketing and currently pursuing for my master degree in the same field. I guess it’s pretty much explained why I’m so obsessed with my blog branding!
  3. I love to write ever since I was little. I got my first short story published in a local newspaper when I was around 9 and I started blogging when I was around 14. Not consistently, though, but now I’m trying to pick up my old hobby, I guess!
  4. I used to love reading so freaking much when I was younger. But then internet happened and here I am, feeling guilty because I don’t read as much these past couple years. Now, I’m trying to pay those guilt by making this blog to push myself to read more.
  5. I started blogging when I was 14. It started as a personal/lifestyle blog. And honestly, this was my favorite time of blogging. Social media was not as big as nowadays. No Twitter, no Instagram, let alone Pinterest. People solely blog because they want to write and share their thoughts. It was fun with no pressure at all and I enjoyed every second of it.
  6. I got my first paid to post gig on that blog. Can you imagine how thrilled I was to get $10 for doing a simple post as a 14 year old kiddo? I totally considered blogging as my full time future career at that point.
  7. I have a bad habit of buying books, keeping them, forgetting that I have them and then buy more books. It’s not just me, right?

And that’s a wrap! Now, I’d like to nominate this award to:

Sunshine Blogger Award

Okay, so this is the very first award that I received and I couldn’t be more excited! I was nominated by the lovely Molly @ Mind of Molly, so thank you, Molly! I think this award is a really great way to motivate and appreciate (us!) bloggers. Sometimes, we write contents, we design graphics, we do endless shameless self-promo and it can get really exhausting, especially when no ones around to read them! So, it feels really nice that after all of those hard work, it pays off when you get an appreciation that shows you’re welcomed in this amazing community. So, again, don’t forget to check out Molly’s blog because she’s a great blogger and her contents are amazing!

[su_note note_color=”#FFEDCD”]Sunshine Blogger Rules:

  1. Thank the blogger who nominated you
  2. Answer the 11 questions they’ve asked you
  3. Nominate 11 other bloggers and ask them 11 questions
  4. Have fun![/su_note]

[su_divider top=”no” style=”dashed”]

1. What do you blog about?
I blog about books, movies and series! I just started this blog last month, so I haven’t post that much. But, I’d love to write more about lifestyle related post in the future, y’know? My life as a college student, beauty and skincare products that I used, my blogging experiences, and et cetera, et cetera.

2. Why did you start blogging?
I started blogging because I love to write and it feels therapeutic, especially whenever I feel stressed. It helps me to get to know myself a bit more during the process. And not just writing, but also the whole aspects of blogging, basically. Designing your graphics, thinking about your blog branding, learning basic HTML/CSS even though you have to Google them for hours and hours, meeting fellow bloggers especially those who has the same interests with you and all that stuffs are really fun experiences for me!

3. Is there anything in life you regret?
As cheesy as it sounds, most things that I regret in my life are the ones that I didn’t end up doing. I really hate myself for being a coward in the past.

4. Savoury or sweet?
Sweet all the way!

5. Who inspired/inspires you the most?
My parents (obviously?!) and lots of fictional characters from books or movies! I’m very easily influenced by what I read or watch, even though they’re only ‘fictional characters’. I believe there’s always something to learn from them.

6. What advice would you give to your younger self?
“Have courage and be kind.” -Cinderella (2015)

7. What advice do you have for new bloggers?
I’m not sure whether I have enough knowledge to give advice in this field. I started blogging when I was 15, but it was a very messy and unorganized personal blog. I had fun, though, not gonna lie. But, I started to take it more seriously recently. I think the only advice that I have (that I also say to myself in multiple occasion) is to not focusing on numbers and to not let those numbers define your self-worth. In this era, it’s very easy to drowns in pressure of getting as many numbers as you can, whether it’s followers or likes. I hate to admit it, but lots of times, this still happened to me and it sucks. It made me feel horrible about myself and my blog. So, what I do to overcome this issue is to just try my best and be genuine to everyone that I met in this community. And it totally works! My numbers are definitely not high at the moment, but the engagement that I got, especially on Twitter, is overwhelming! And it really made me feel appreciated after everything that I’ve done and it pushed me to keep going and improving myself.

8. Cats or dogs?
I’m a cat person but I could spend hours stalking cute puppies pics on internet.

9. Do you have a secret talent?
Does strolling around a bookstore for three hours and end up buying nothing counts?

10. Favorite movie of all time and why?
Stand by Me (1986)! I’m suck when it comes to explaining something that I really loved, because it just happened! I guess it’s one of the coming of age story that really stuck with me. I adore the friendships in this movie and it also the first time I saw River Phoenix on screen.

11. What is your favorite food?
My mom’s fried rice! Basically, anything that my mom made.

[su_divider top=”no” style=”dashed”]

[su_note note_color=”#FFEDCD”]And that’s it! Now, here’s my 11 questions:

  1. Tell us about your first blog! What is it about? When did you made it?
  2. What do you blog about now? Is it still the same with your first blog or is it any different?
  3. What’s your current favorite resources (apps or websites) to blog? Share it with us!
  4. Do you keep your blog as a secret from your relatives or friends in real life?
  5. What’s your interest or hobby aside from blogging?
  6. What’s your all time favorite book and why?
  7. What’s your all time favorite movie and why?
  8. Tea or coffee?
  9. Sweet or savoury?
  10. Share some of your current favorite bloggers! What do you love about them or their blog?
  11. What have you learn after all this time of blogging? What surprised you the most?[/su_note]

I hope the questions aren’t too hard to answer? And these are the amazing bloggers that I’d love to nominated and I’m excited to see their answers! I love their contents and pretty much obsessed with their blog, so you definitely should check ’em out! Also, don’t pressure yourself if you’ve already nominated or did this award or simply don’t want to do it! It’s not mandatory at all!

The Ultimate Harry Potter Tag

Hey everyone! Today is September 1st and it’s time to back to Hogwarts! To celebrate this memorable day (and to mark this as my very first post!) I want to do The Ultimate Harry Potter Tag! I found this tag over Destiny’s blog and I knew I have to do it as well. I haven’t re-read or re-watch the Harry Potter franchise for quite a while, so it’s thrilling to do this tag and remind myself that I’m a massive Potterhead and I used to be obsessed with everything Harry Potter related (I still am, though). So, here we go!

1. Favorite book?

This one comes easy! It’s the Prisoner of Azkaban since it’s the first Harry Potter book that I owned (back when I was nine years old). I also loved it because we got Sirius’s first appearance in this book and eventually learned that Harry still has a family. :’)

2. Least favorite book?

Ugh, I don’t really think I have one until I got this question. But, if I really have to choose, it’s probably Order of Phoenix. I don’t really have any particular reason except for Sirius’ death.

3. Favorite movie?

Goblet of Fire! I think it’s amazing that we got glimpse of Quidditch World Cup here, how everyone was super hyped about it and also the appearance of other magical schools.

4. Least favorite movie?

It’s going to be Order of Phoenix again. A combination of Sirius’ death and visualization of Dolores Umbridge? No, thank you.

5. Favorite quote?

“I hope you’re pleased with yourselves. We could all have been killed — or worse, expelled. “. Ms.Granger really got her priority right!

6. Favorite Weasley?

It used to be Fred and George back then, but since I watched more of Domnhall Gleeson’s filmography recently, it slowly turned to Bill. I wish he got more screen time, though!

7. Favorite female character?

Minerva McGonagall! She’s super bad-ass, very smart, is a cat and (definitely) a cat person too, unexpected (“Have a biscuit, Potter.”), has a resting bitch face 99% of the time, hate Umbridge (probably more than us), is super excited about the Yule Ball, and of course, is a queen of alliteration (“I will not have you, in one night, besmirching that name by behaving like a babbling, bumbling band of baboons!”).

8. Favorite villain?

I think most of us will agree that it’s going to be Draco Malfoy.

9. Favorite male character?

This one is predictable but Sirius Black, it is. Despite of my emotional connection over his character because of Prisoner of Azkaban, he’s a great father figure that Harry has been long missed. I also loved the fact that he’s not being overprotective to Harry and allowed him to know about everything that has been going on, because if there’s one person who has the most right to know about those movement against Voldemort, it is Harry.

10. Favorite professor?

McGonagall, for sure. Although, I’m pretty sure that I’d failed in two seconds if I ever take her class.

11. Wash Snape’s hair, or spend a day listening to Lockhart rant about himself?

Snape all the way. I’ll fall asleep in 2 minutes if I choose Lockhart.

12. Duel an elated Bellatrix, or an angry Molly?

I’m terrified of Bellatrix, so angry Molly, then. I got zero opportunity if I have to duel with either of them, but at least Molly looks nicer.

13. Travel to Hogwarts via Hogwarts Express or a flying car?

Hogwarts Express, of course. You got to snacking all the way to Hogwarts!

14. Kiss Voldemort, or give Umbridge a bubble bath?

Um, hi, Voldy…

15. Ride a hippogriff, or ride a firebolt?

Firebolt because I think I’ll be chicken out in front of a hippogriff.

16. Is there a character you felt differently about in the movies versus the books?

Aside from calm Dumbledore vs angry Dumbledore in the Goblet of Fire? Not really, I guess. I also haven’t re-read the books for years, so I can’t recall the differences very well.

17. Is there a movie you preferred over its book?

I think it’s probably Goblet of Fire. The visualization of action packs are priceless!

18. Richard Harris or Michael Gambon as Dumbledore?

I’d say Michael Gambon, but I can’t deny Richard Harris’ version of Dumbledore is really adorable and funny and a lot more like the books.

19. Your top thing (person or event) which wasn’t included in the movie that annoyed you the most?

Peeves! And the majority of Potterhead are probably answering the same.

20. If you could remake any of the Potter movies, which would it be?

None. They aren’t perfect but they are irreplaceable.

21. Which house was your first gut feeling you’d be a part of?

I always guess I’d be a Hufflepuff, just because I always thought that I’m not very brave, neither intelligent or ambitious.

22. Which house were you actually sorted into on Pottermore?

I guessed it right. Hufflepuff!

23. Which class would be your favorite?

Charms. Can’t wait to use all of them to make life easier!

24. Which spell do you think would be most useful to learn?

Accio, Lumos and Nox.

25. Which character do you think you’d instantly become best friends with?

I think Ron and I will get along pretty well. Procrastinate homeworks, big appetite, afraid of spiders (any bugs in my case), and having no idea what’s going on 90% of the time.

26. If you could own one of the three Hallows, which would it be?

The cloak of invisibility. I’m an introvert and will use it 24/7 whenever I need to recharge myself from being social.

27. Is there any aspect of the books you’d want to change?

Not really.

28. Favorite marauder?

Sirius!

29. If you could bring one character back to life, which would it be?

Either Sirius (because Harry needs him), or Remus (because Teddy needs him), or Fred (because George needs him). Oh well, I can’t decide after all.

30. Hallows or horcruxes?

Hallows! Who in their right mind will choose horcruxes and voluntarily split their soul in pieces? Not me.

There you have it! That was fun to answer and it definitely makes me want to re-read and re-watch everything. I tag every Potterhead who came across this post. It’s your turn now!
