The Flawesome Award

Ahhh, more award post, yay! This is my very first Flawesome Award and I want to thank Geraldine @ Geraldine Talks and Souad @ A Day in My Life for nominating me! This is also my first time to heard about this award, but basically, it’s an award to embrace your weaknesses and turn it into strengths. We all had our flaws, so why don’t turn it into something awesome? Again, thank you Geraldine & Souad for thinking of me and my blog for this award! If you haven’t follow them yet, you should totally do it now! Geraldine writes all about fun lifestyle-related posts on her blog and Souad writes a lot of story times and product reviews! Go check them out!

Anyway, The Flawesome Award was originally created by Sophia Ismaa who specifically wanted us to celebrate our flaws! Sophia’s description of the award:

“It’s time to celebrate the flaws that make you awesome. How many times do we see an award that celebrates all things bright and shiny and sunny in a person? How often do we forget that our weaknesses can be a strength? Our flaws make us human, our flaws tell us more about who we are, and in turn, we turn those flaws into awesome strengths. In short, our flaws make us #flawesome”.

[su_note note_color=”#FFEDCD”]The Flawesome Rules:

  1. Write about 3 of your flaws or weaknesses
  2. Then turn it into a positive thing or strengths
  3. Nominate 10 other bloggers for this award[/su_note]

I’m naturally quiet and shy. Don’t worry, it’s not you, it’s me. I guess I’m not just as outgoing and talkative, especially around those who I just met and barely knew. Even sometimes around those who I already knew, but haven’t talk with for a long time. I think the positive value from this aspect of myself is that I become more observant and better listener. I realized that whenever I’m being quiet and just sit there, paying attention to the conversation happening around me, I become more sensitive to my surroundings. I get to study what people thinks and how they reacts in conversation, which is pretty cool, because sometimes people says one thing but their initial reaction was completely different. Which is perfectly fine, by any means. Maybe they’re just trying to be polite and it’s not a wrong thing to do, in my opinion. But I think it’s quite important to understand how someone feels without asking them to tell it directly to you.

I guess I have a high attention to details? It’s in question marks because I’m not sure whether it’s a weakness or not. I guess it can be, because this makes me takes longer to finish something. I mean, almost everything. It took me hours to make a good presentation slides, not because of the contents, but because I tried to make everything looks perfect (I’m talking about image pixels here), I checked my door before I left for about three times because I’m just paranoid, and sometimes, whenever I read a book or watch a movie and there’s some interesting facts that I just knew at the moment, I’ll pause whatever thing I was doing and end up doing research about that one particular fact, just because! But oh well, at least by having this trait, I have a better result in whatever I’m working on.

I hate to admit this one, but I’m a deadline type of person. Maybe the adrenaline feels good, I’m not sure. The positive side of this trait? I can work under pressure. Yay me.

[su_divider top=”no” style=”dashed”]

And that’s a wrap! Now, I’d like to nominate this award to these 10 amazing bloggers (who’s already awesome, by any means!):

  6. I’m a huge stan of Harry Styles and proud of it. He’s one of the nicest celebrity out there and he’s just being himself. I mean, aside from being an amazing singer, I’m talking about this and this. And to make it fair, I’ll also include this video where he’s being very mean, watch at your own risk and I’ll leave the judgement to you.

How I Started As A Blogger

I started blogging when I was 14 (I think I’ve mentioned this over and over again in other posts). It was a personal blog. No niche, whatsoever. Just me, writing anything that came to my head (I still am now, though) and having fun browsing all the free themes on internet to make the blog looks pretty. The most fun part for being a blogger during this time is you don’t have to stress out about your social media presence, because there is no social media! Well, of course there is Facebook and other stuff, but to promote your blog on those platform is not quite a thing yet. However, the engagement over the blogging community during this time was still just insane. I’m sure everyone is pretty much blogwalking whenever they got a chance to do so. I learn so much from this community back then, because everyone is so welcome and generous about teaching others. I got my first gig for a sponsored post, following by bunch of other paid to post offers. Honestly, it’s the best thing that could ever happened to a 14 years old and I couldn’t be more grateful.

Anyway, I blog for couple years, up until I was about to graduate from high school. I took a long break from blogging when I started college and this break continued for about five years. I finally decided to started blogging again earlier this year, so I bought a domain and choose Blogger as my blog platform. However, I didn’t started until August (shame on me!) because I overthink about my niche. Finally, I made my decision on September. I decided to move to WordPress and went self-hosted. I still keep the same domain name, though. And here we are! I’m still a bit lost whenever people ask me what kind of blogger I am, because this blog is not a personal one but it’s pretty much all over the place. A lifestyle blog? Not sure. I don’t write much about my life except for books and movies. But for now, I guess it’s such a small, insignificant thing to label yourself and stress over a certain word, just to make yourself fit in. So what if I’m not this blogger or that blogger? The most important thing is I get to do what I love to do and meet others who loves to do the same thing, right?

Two Advice for New Bloggers

I don’t considered myself to be experienced enough for giving advice, but there are some tips that I can share to anyone who just started their blog!

  1. Stop worrying and start doing. This is pretty much what I’d say to my past self. I worried about so many things even before I was started and it postponing me from starting the actual blog. You might not figured out everything when you first started and that’s totally okay. Stop stressing out about your blog name, your blog niche, your brand, your theme, your social media presence, etc etc. No one started out perfectly and it’s fine. You’ll figure out everything along the way, trust me.
  2. Engage in the community. There are so many amazing bloggers that you can learn a lot from, even get some inspiration. But, to be able to get all of these, you gotta start giving as well. You can’t just expect to get audience and readers for your blog if you’re not an audience and reader as well in the first place. You get what you give! And isn’t it amazing to gain friends that has the same interest with you? Trust me, this whole blogging thing if so much fun when you have friends by your side, especially those who’s sincere and genuinely loves your blog.

[su_divider top=”no” style=”dashed”]

And that’s a wrap! I’d like to nominate this award to these 15 bloggers, as I’m curious about how they started as a blogger!

[su_divider top=”no” style=”dashed”]

So, these are seven things that you probably don’t know about me!

  1. I’m Indonesian. Born, raised and lived my whole life here!
  2. I have a bachelor degree in marketing and currently pursuing for my master degree in the same field. I guess it’s pretty much explained why I’m so obsessed with my blog branding!
  3. I love to write ever since I was little. I got my first short story published in a local newspaper when I was around 9 and I started blogging when I was around 14. Not consistently, though, but now I’m trying to pick up my old hobby, I guess!
  4. I used to love reading so freaking much when I was younger. But then internet happened and here I am, feeling guilty because I don’t read as much these past couple years. Now, I’m trying to pay those guilt by making this blog to push myself to read more.
  5. I started blogging when I was 14. It started as a personal/lifestyle blog. And honestly, this was my favorite time of blogging. Social media was not as big as nowadays. No Twitter, no Instagram, let alone Pinterest. People solely blog because they want to write and share their thoughts. It was fun with no pressure at all and I enjoyed every second of it.
  6. I got my first paid to post gig on that blog. Can you imagine how thrilled I was to get $10 for doing a simple post as a 14 year old kiddo? I totally considered blogging as my full time future career at that point.
  7. I have a bad habit of buying books, keeping them, forgetting that I have them and then buy more books. It’s not just me, right?

And that’s a wrap! Now, I’d like to nominate this award to:
