The Reading Rush 2019 Wrap-Up: A (Bit of) Success!

Now… you might be wondering. What kind of title is that? Okay, okay. So, I’m happy to announce that I completed my Reading Rush readathon, but… I tweaked my initial TBR a bit and ended up reading books that are not even on the list. #MoodReader However, I still managed to finish the whole challenges with qualified books, so it counts! This post is going to be a short and sweet wrap-up, because I’ve been on blogging streak for three days now and I don’t even know if I still have that energy in me anymore. Without further ado, here’s the wrap-up!

books read

I read a total of eight books. Woohoo! Well, six of them are graphic novels, but in my defense, I’m a slow reader and all books matters! And here’s how I completed the challenges:

Purple on the cover; author’s first book
📚 Wicked Fox by Kat Cho
Non-human main character; read in the same spot the entire time
📚 Mooncakes by Suzanne Walker
Five or more words in the title
📚 The Escape Manual for Introverts by Katie Vaz
Meant to read last year; read a book and watch the adaptation
📚 The Devil Wears Prada by Lauren Weisberger

The other books are a result of me being impulsive, indecisive, and just throwing big moody reader energy. I’ll post my thoughts about these titles on my July Wrap-Up post, which will go live tomorrow, so I can gather all of my July reads in one nice post. Oh, and how could I forget about the stats?! We love a good stat and a shiny graphic.

badges earned

This is probably the ultimate reason why I joined the readathon in the first place. The cute and shiny badges! Sadly, I didn’t get all of them because I don’t read any five-stars book and I don’t do Youtube videos and I’m not even on Instagram that much, but I’m happy with my result!

did you join the reading rush readathon? how was it going for you?

The Reading Rush 2019 TBR

I’m so excited to bring you this post because finally, after a too-long consideration, I decided to jump into the bandwagon and joining this readathon! If you know me, I suck at readathon. There I admit it. I’m always super pumped when I’m planning my TBR and all, but that energy seems to vanish when it comes to actually do the readathon. However, I’d like to try again this time because I’m just so impressed with the preparation and setup of this event! If you’re interested to find out more details about this readathon, all of the information can be found below.

About The Reading Rush2019 Reading Challenges

I’m trying to be hopeful yet realistic for this readathon because I’m completely aware that I’m such a mood reader. These four books are the ones that I picked to complete the given challenges:

purple on the cover & non-human main character

I decided to go with Wicked Fox by Kat Cho for these challenges. I received the ARC a while ago and I’ve been planning to finish it within this month. I’ll also read it as a part of the Year of the Asian Reading Challenge 2019.

read in the same spot the entire time

Obviously, I’ll go with a shorter book for this particular challenge. I decided to pick up Mooncakes by Suzanne Walker because I also received the ARC a while ago and I’m just so excited when I saw all of the lovely, warm, witchy vibes from this graphic novel!

author’s first book & five or more words in the title

Me, reading a book, just a week after I bought it? Wild concept. But here we are! I picked up Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi last week for my birthday and it’s really a coincidence that it’s a perfect match for these two challenges!

meant to read last year & read a book and watch the adaptation

Honestly, I’ve been putting off this book for too long now considering the number of times I’ve been watching the movies! The Devil Wears Prada was absolutely one of my all-time favorite movies and I think these two challenges are perfect to push me to finally read the book!

And there you have it! Honestly, I think I’ll do a decent job with this readathon (eh, hopefully?). I haven’t really decided for the other three titles that I’ll pick up to complete the “7 books” bonus challenge, so we’ll see about that later. Also, if you’re joining this readathon, feel free to add me on The Reading Rush site so we can connect and discuss there!

are you joining this readathon too? if so, what’s on your tbr?
